About

Pedal, amp and guitar reviews – because there’s always more gear.

My – I have to be honest here – addiction to guitar gear started a couple of years ago, when my good friend D started getting into stomp boxes and said, “hey, let’s build pedal boards together!”

I feared it was going to end up with me getting badly carried away, but there was no way I was going to let him have all the fun. I said OK.

My fears were well-founded. I’ve lost count of how many pedals I’ve had. Guitars, they’re multiplying. Amp heads are stacking up left, right and centre. I’ve got more gear than many music stores.

And I’ve spent countless hours happily tinkering with sounds. More than that, it’s helped me fall back in love with playing guitar and making music – which is, of course, why we all get into this stuff in the first place. Yes, the gear can be expensive, but for me, that’s priceless.

There’s nothing quite like getting to grips with an awesome piece of equipment for the first time, finding sounds that inspire me to write or perform. And of course, every time I discover something exciting, there’s always more gear like it to go out and find.

So I decided in 2018 to share some of what I’m found. A lot of my discoveries have been thanks to the great players talking about tone on YouTube or on blogs, sharing their knowledge and ideas. I’ve learned a huge amount from them, so this is my little contribution back to all of that.

It’s 100% independent, honest, and my unedited opinions.

So. I hope you’ll find something useful here. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about the gear that I cover. Until then, thanks for checking out Always More Gear.
